Day 4: Tam Coc – Quang Binh
In the early morning when Tam Coc is barely woken, we will take a two hour boat journey, propelled only by the boatman's oars. Almost silently, we will slide through no fewer than three limestone tunnels that span the river's flow, emerging into the valley that slips like a corridor among the limestone precipices. Later we will bid goodbye to Tan Coc and take to the road again, arriving at Quang Binh.

Day 5: Quang Binh – Phong Nha Cave - Hue
We travel west to the recently declared World Heritage Site of Quang Binh where many astonishing limestone caverns cane be found, including the world's longest underground river. Some of these caves were even used as an arms store by the Viet Cong. From Quang Binh, we will travel by road through the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) that once separated North Vietnam from South.  We will stop over at Vinh Moc tunnel complex, an underground village by the banks of the Ben Hai River. We will arrive in Hue.

Day 6: Hue
The walled city of Hue is an ancient cultural centre and was for a time the capital of Vietnam.  It was a key target of the North Vietnamese in the Tet Offensive and, following its capture was the site of a shocking purge of intellectuals and community leaders. But the rich heritage of cultural sites remain: the purple forbidden city , royal tomb's and many pagodas.  In the morning we will show you the inner citadel with its enormous expanse of gardens, lakes and traditional public buildings, and to the Thien Mu pagoda. We will then cruise the Perfume River to the tombs of the kings Tu Duc and Khai Dinh.

Day 7: Hue – Hoi An
We travel through the high pass of Hai Van with its spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean en route to Hoi An. Once a flourishing trading port servicing south east Asia, this quaint riverside town still boasts a wealth of centuries old traditional architecture. The influences of several Asian cultures can be seen in the old houses and waterside buildings.  It is also famous as a place to get instantly created inexpensive tailored outfits.
